Perhaps you heard that a bunch of us Moroccan henna fans are doing a full weekend workshop in NYC at the end of February. Maybe you are interested but haven’t made up your mind yet.  If that is the case, I hope that these conversations with three of the instructors–Nic, Nev and Noam–will help make the decision to sign up even easier!  You can hear in their own words what the three Ns are bringing to the workshop and why they think it’s going to be amazing.  Rebecca and I will also be teaching at the workshop but we decided that our voices have been heard too much on this podcast already.  Below you’ll find more information about the workshop and what to expect, as well as links to the Facebook event page and to the registration page. See you in February!

More Moor:
Moroccan Mastery
Nic and Lisa, authors of Moor, A Henna Atlas of Morocco, and henna historian and scholar, Noam Sienna present a weekend of Moroccan Henna Mastery in funky and fashionable Brooklyn, New York City!

February 28 – March 1, 2015

These three Moroccan Hennaphiles will be flanked by guest artists Nev Levin of Remarkable Blackbird, and Rebecca Freedner of Heartfire Henna. This immersive weekend will provide an in-depth education in Moroccan henna, and is perfect for the beginner and intermediate/advanced artist. We’ll begin the weekend with the basics, and journey together deep into the heart of Moroccan history and culture, modern fusion, and mechanics.

An excellent student/teacher ratio means plenty of one-on-one instruction. You will have the opportunity for constructive critique as you learn to lay down a Moroccan design that stays true to its roots. You’ll also be invited to break the rules as we play with fusion; merging lush contemporary motifs with typical Moroccan geometry.

A relaxed pace, with a mindful eye towards downtime (henna time!) will give ample opportunity to put to test what can at times feel like a tsunami of crucial information.

The combined skill sets of these five phenomenal artists will fulfill your curiosity of all things Moroccan henna, and leave you with a mastery of those delicious, mysterious, Moroccan designs that we’ve all grown so enamored of.

The full weekend workshop includes two full days of instruction, lectures and practice time with two delicious Middle Eastern lunches to keep you at peak performance levels. You will also have unlimited supplies of Heartfire Henna paste as well as a swag bag packed with fun goodies which includes 3 tokens for henna from an instructor, as well as a sketchpad, henna powder, a Moroccan essential oil blend, design pages from Moor, and other treats. The weekend package is $250. You will be responsible for your transportation, other meals and lodging but we will work with attendees to find lodging and
shares.

The one-day option includes one full day of instruction (pick Day 1 for basics and Day 2 for Advanced), lectures and practice time with a delicious Middle Eastern lunch to keep you at peak performance levels. You will also have unlimited supplies of Heartfire Henna paste as well as a swag bag packed (slightly less packed than the weekend bag) with fun goodies which includes 1 token for henna from an instructor, as well as a sketchpad, henna powder, a Moroccan essential oil blend, design pages from Moor on the Spot, and other treats. The one-day package is $150. You will be responsible for your transportation, other meals and lodging but we will work with attendees to find lodging and shares.

We look forward to you joining us for this wonderful weekend of Moroccan henna!
